4Cable TV Powers Solar EDFA
4Cable TV will unveil a solar-powered EDFA (Erbium Doped Amplifier) in their Green Pavilion booth at Cable-Tec Expo this week.
The SEDFA-14 is designed to extend RFoG fibers an additional 11 dB. It only consumes .36 Watts of power and can run for 40 hours on its in internal battery. To facilitate the return signal from the customer home, the company also has the 4CFID-7 NIU, with a high level 7 dBm return laser and the 4CRTR return receiver, which receives signals down to -26 dBm.

New Product: RF2F (RF to Fiber) – This proprietary line of coax-to-fiber taps allows cable operators to reach those homes, within their franchise authorized area, that have been considered to be economically unviable to develop and bring into the subscriber customer base.
New Product: Node+0 – This application of the RFoG technology platform combines the company’s PowerMiser engineering with PEDFA (Passive Erbium Doped Amplifier) technology to take fiber signal all the way to the last device before the customer while utilizing the existing coaxial plant to power new Line Extender Nodes. Additionally, the Node+0 platform will have an additional 300 MHz of forward bandwidth and the availability of 1 GHz of return bandwidth.
